Installation
Follow these steps to install SpecCart on your WooCommerce store.
Before You Begin
Section titled “Before You Begin”Make sure your server meets the system requirements and that WooCommerce is installed and active.
Installation Methods
Section titled “Installation Methods”Method 1: Upload ZIP File (Recommended)
Section titled “Method 1: Upload ZIP File (Recommended)”This is the easiest method for store owners.

Download the plugin ZIP file from your purchase receipt or the vendor’s website.

Go to your WordPress Admin panel
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New
- Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page

Upload the ZIP file
- Click Choose File and select the
speccart.zipfile - Click Install Now
- Click Choose File and select the

Wait for installation
- WordPress will upload and extract the plugin files automatically
- This may take 10-30 seconds depending on your server speed
Method 2: Manual Upload via FTP/cPanel
Section titled “Method 2: Manual Upload via FTP/cPanel”If the ZIP upload method doesn’t work due to server restrictions, use this method.

Download and extract the plugin ZIP file on your computer

Connect to your server using FTP (FileZilla, Cyberduck) or your hosting cPanel File Manager

Navigate to the plugins directory
/wp-content/plugins/ -
Upload the entire
speccartfolder to this directory- The final path should be
/wp-content/plugins/speccart/
- The final path should be

Set correct permissions (if needed)
- Folders: 755
- Files: 644
Activate the Plugin
Section titled “Activate the Plugin”After installation, activate SpecCart:

Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins in WordPress Admin

Find SpecCart in the list

Click the Activate link

Wait for activation to complete
Verify Installation
Section titled “Verify Installation”After activation, verify SpecCart is working correctly:
1. Check the Admin Menu
Section titled “1. Check the Admin Menu”You should see a new SpecCart menu in your WordPress admin sidebar (below WooCommerce).
If you see this menu, the plugin is installed correctly.
2. Access the Settings Page
Section titled “2. Access the Settings Page”- Go to SpecCart > Settings
- You should see the SpecCart configuration interface with navigation tabs
3. Check for Errors
Section titled “3. Check for Errors”Open your browser’s Developer Console:
- Chrome/Edge: Press F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (Cmd+Option+I on Mac)
- Firefox: Press F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I (Cmd+Option+I on Mac)
- Safari: Enable Developer menu in Preferences, then press Cmd+Option+I
Look for any JavaScript errors (shown in red). There should be none.
Next Steps
Section titled “Next Steps”Now that SpecCart is installed, you need to configure it before customers can use it:

Configure settings — Set up lens types, packages, colours, and more in Settings → General

Set up lens options — Configure lens usage types in Lens Usage and packages in Packages

Customize branding — Adjust logo, fonts, and colours in Branding

Test the wizard — Add a configured product to your cart to verify everything works
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Upload Size Limit Error
Section titled “Upload Size Limit Error”If you see “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini”, your server’s upload limit is too low.
Solutions:

Use Method 2 (Manual Upload) - This bypasses the upload limit

Contact your hosting provider - Ask them to increase the
upload_max_filesizelimit to at least 20MB -
Edit php.ini (if you have access):
upload_max_filesize = 20Mpost_max_size = 20M
Plugin Activation Fails
Section titled “Plugin Activation Fails”If you see “SpecCart requires WooCommerce to be installed and active”:
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Activate WooCommerce first
- Then activate SpecCart
If you see “SpecCart requires PHP 8.1 or higher”:
- Contact your hosting provider
- Request an upgrade to PHP 8.1, 8.2, or 8.3
- After the upgrade, try activating SpecCart again
Settings Page Appears Blank
Section titled “Settings Page Appears Blank”If the SpecCart Settings page loads but appears blank (no configuration interface):

Clear your browser cache - Press Ctrl+F5 (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to hard refresh

Clear WordPress cache - If using a caching plugin (WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, etc.), clear all caches

Check browser console - Open Developer Tools (F12) and look for JavaScript errors. If you see errors, contact support with the error details.

Disable other plugins temporarily - Another plugin may be causing a conflict. Deactivate all other plugins, test SpecCart, then reactivate one by one to identify the conflict.
Missing SpecCart Menu
Section titled “Missing SpecCart Menu”If you don’t see the SpecCart menu under WooCommerce after activation:

Refresh the page - Press F5 or reload the page

Check plugin status - Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and verify SpecCart shows as active

Check user permissions - Make sure you’re logged in as an Administrator

Clear WordPress caches - If using a caching plugin, clear all caches
