General Settings
The General tab contains foundational settings that control how the lens configurator behaves across your entire store, how customers contact you about prescriptions, and how you communicate with your optical lab.
Configurator Settings
Section titled “Configurator Settings”These settings control the basic behavior and display format of prices throughout the configurator.
Currency Symbol
Section titled “Currency Symbol”The symbol displayed before all prices in the configurator (e.g., £, $, €). This setting is independent of WooCommerce’s currency settings and only affects the SpecCart configurator interface.

Decimal Places
Section titled “Decimal Places”Number of decimal places displayed for all prices in the configurator.
Options:
- 0 — Displays whole numbers only (e.g., £50)
- 1 — Displays one decimal place (e.g., £50.0)
- 2 — Displays two decimal places (e.g., £50.00) — Default
Enable by Default
Section titled “Enable by Default”When enabled, the lens configurator will be automatically available on all products. When disabled, you must manually enable the configurator for each product in the Product Data > SpecCart tab.
- Default: Enabled
- Can be overridden: Yes, on individual products
Typical use cases:
- Enabled — If most of your products are prescription lenses
- Disabled — If only a subset of your catalog supports custom lens configurations
Price Display
Section titled “Price Display”Configure how prices and free labels appear in each step of the configurator wizard. Each step has its own settings, giving you full control over how pricing information is presented to customers.
Per-Step Settings
Section titled “Per-Step Settings”The Price Display section contains a collapsible panel for each wizard step:
- Step 1 — Lens Usage
- Step 2 — Varifocal Type
- Step 3 — Lens Colour (includes sub-option prefix)
- Step 4 — Lens Package
Click a step name to expand or collapse its settings.
Price Prefix
Section titled “Price Prefix”Text displayed before the price for options that cost more than £0.

Free Price Label
Section titled “Free Price Label”Text displayed for options that cost £0.

Show Price
Section titled “Show Price”When enabled, the price is displayed for options that cost more than £0. When disabled, no price information is shown for priced options — customers see only the option name and description.

Show Free Label
Section titled “Show Free Label”When enabled, the free label text is displayed for £0 options. When disabled, nothing appears in the price area for free options.

Sub-option Prefix (Step 3 Only)
Section titled “Sub-option Prefix (Step 3 Only)”Step 3 — Lens Colour has an additional setting for the sub-option prefix. This controls the prefix shown on transition colour and sunglasses tint sub-selections.

Prescription Contact Information
Section titled “Prescription Contact Information”This section defines the contact details shown to customers when they choose to send their prescription later (Step 4 of the configurator).
Email Address
Section titled “Email Address”The email address where customers should send their prescriptions if they choose the “Send prescription later” option.
- Format: Valid email address
- Displayed to customers: Yes, shown on the order confirmation page and in order emails

Help Video
Section titled “Help Video”Display an optional “Watch video” button in the configurator’s bottom bar that opens a popup video player. Use this to provide visual guidance to customers as they configure their lenses.
Enable/Disable
Section titled “Enable/Disable”Toggle the help video feature on or off. When enabled, two additional fields appear:
Button Text
Section titled “Button Text”The text displayed on the video button in the configurator.

Video URL
Section titled “Video URL”The URL of the video to display when the button is clicked. Supports:
- YouTube — Standard watch URLs (e.g.,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...) - Vimeo — Standard URLs (e.g.,
https://vimeo.com/...) - Direct video URLs — MP4, WebM, or other browser-compatible video formats
The video opens in a modal popup overlaid on the configurator.
Lab Email Settings
Section titled “Lab Email Settings”These settings control how prescription PDFs are sent to your optical lab when orders are verified.
Lab Email Addresses
Section titled “Lab Email Addresses”A list of email addresses that will receive prescription PDFs when sent to the lab. You can add multiple email addresses to ensure all relevant staff or lab locations are notified.
How to use:
- Enter an email address in the input field
- Click Add or press Enter
- The email appears as a tag above the input field
- To remove an email, click the X button on its tag
Auto-send on Verify
Section titled “Auto-send on Verify”When enabled, SpecCart automatically emails the lab as soon as an admin verifies a prescription from the Orders screen.
- Default: Disabled
- When to enable: If your workflow requires immediate lab notification upon verification
- When to disable: If you prefer to manually send lab emails or batch-process verified orders
Email Subject
Section titled “Email Subject”The subject line used when sending prescription PDFs to the lab. You can use the following dynamic placeholders:

Default Lab Notes
Section titled “Default Lab Notes”Optional notes that are automatically included in every lab order email. Use this for standard instructions that apply to all orders.
Typical uses:
- Shipping address or pickup location
- Default processing instructions (e.g., “Please prioritize high-index lenses”)
- Return policy or quality check reminders
- Lab contact person or reference number
Format: Multi-line text field
Saving Settings
Section titled “Saving Settings”All settings across every tab (General, Branding, Lens Usage, Prescription, Contact Details, AI Extraction, etc.) are saved with the single Save Changes button in the header bar. The button activates whenever you have unsaved changes and displays a confirmation when settings are saved successfully.
The Discard button in the header reverts all unsaved changes across all tabs.
